ShopFast vs Shopify for selling digital products and license keys
Short answer
Shopify is the stronger choice for physical goods, selling in person and a very large app store, from $29 a month billed yearly. ShopFast is built for digital goods: license keys with durations, instant delivery and Discord roles work without apps, a store is free to open, and there is no ShopFast fee per sale on your own payment provider.

Shopify runs stores for every kind of product, and it is very good at it. ShopFast does one kind: digital goods such as license keys, game keys, software, files, memberships and Discord roles. Here is how they compare for that, with Shopify's numbers taken from its own pricing page and help center in October 2026.

Where is Shopify stronger?
- Physical products and selling in person. Shopify's point of sale syncs online and in-store orders and inventory across locations; POS Pro is $89 a month per location.
- The ecosystem. Shopify's App Store lists over 16,000 apps, and its Theme Store has 24 free themes and more than 1,300 paid ones.
- Payments in one account. With Shopify Payments you do not need a separate processor, and Shopify adds no transaction fee on top.
- Room to grow. More staff accounts on Grow and Advanced, and Shopify Plus for large businesses.
If you ship boxes, sell at markets or need a specific app, Shopify is the safer pick.
Where is ShopFast stronger for digital goods?
- License keys are built in. Give a product options such as 1 Day, 7 Days, 30 Days and Lifetime, each with its own price and its own key pool. Each key goes to exactly one order. On Shopify, Shopify's own Digital Downloads app sends files and links; license keys come from third-party apps.
- Delivery beyond files. Keys, files, accounts, services, memberships and Discord roles are delivered the moment the payment confirms, on the order page and by email.
- No fee on your own payment provider. Connect Stripe, PayPal, Square, crypto to your own wallet and more, and ShopFast takes no fee per sale.
- Discord and status pages. Buyers get their role when they pay; your product pages show whether the software is Live, Updating or Down.

How do the fees compare on a $24 sale?
Shopify adds a fee when buyers pay through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shop Pay or a manual method. ShopFast adds none when buyers pay through your own provider.

- Shopify Plus (0.2%)$0.05
- Shopify Advanced (0.6%)$0.14
- Shopify Grow (1%)$0.24
- Shopify Basic (2%)$0.48
Platform fee only, on a $24.00 sale paid through your own payment provider, from each platform’s pricing page in October 2026. Your provider’s own processing fee comes on top on every platform, and Shopify also charges a monthly plan fee.
Card processing is extra everywhere: Shopify Payments charges 2.9% + 30¢ online on Basic, down to 2.25% + 30¢ on Plus, and on ShopFast your own provider charges its usual rate.
Can you sell game keys and software licenses on Shopify?
Shopify's acceptable use policy does not name game keys or software licenses. Shopify Payments has its own eligibility rules, which say the list of prohibited businesses varies by region and is not exhaustive. If you plan to sell keys on Shopify, check those rules for your country before you rely on Shopify Payments.
Which should you choose?
Choose Shopify if you sell physical products, sell in person, or depend on a particular app. Choose ShopFast if you sell keys, software, memberships or Discord access and want them delivered without stitching apps together, with no monthly fee to open a store.
