Product status and auto-pause
One status per product, from your own badge or a linked status page component, shown the same way on the product page, cards, status pages and search. Plus auto-pause, which stops sales while a product is not working or down.
Buyers of software and keys often check one thing before they pay: does it work right now? ShopFast keeps one status per product and shows it everywhere a buyer looks, so the product page, the product cards, your status page, the status board app and search never disagree.
Where the status comes from
A product’s status is worked out from two inputs, in this order:
- A linked status page component. In Storefront → Status pages, link a component to a product. While a component is linked, it speaks for the product. If several components link the same product, the most severe one wins.
- Your own badge. Without a linked component, the product shows the badge you pick in the product editor: Working, Updated, Testing, Updating, Not working or Down, with one short note (“Updated for version 4.2”).
Your status page labels map onto the badge by name first (Live and Working read as Working, Maintenance as Updating, Blocked and Offline as Down) and otherwise by the label’s severity. Setting a product’s badge from the editor or a preset also moves its linked component, so the two never drift apart.
The note buyers read
Under the badge there is one line:
- While an incident is open on the product’s component, the incident’s title (for example “Not working after today’s update, fix in progress”).
- Otherwise the component’s own note, else the product’s status note.
The status also carries since when it holds, which templates show as “checked 3 min ago”.
Where it shows
| Surface | What buyers see |
|---|---|
| Product page and product cards | The badge, the note and since when, in every template |
Status pages (/status) |
The component with its label and uptime history |
| Status board app and badges | The same label, as a board, a badge image or the embeddable widget |
| Storefront search | Products that are not working or down rank lower (testing and updating slightly lower), and buyers can filter by status |
| Updates you send | Status page subscribers (email or a Discord webhook) and Telegram channel posts announce the same label |
The status board app never adds a second status line under a product title that already shows one, so there is always exactly one.
Auto-pause
Early access. Auto-pause is part of Licensing, which ShopFast turns on per store or per seller on request. Without it, the status still shows everywhere above; sales simply keep running.
With Licensing on, Products → (a key product) → Licensing → Auto-pause stops sales while the product is not working:
| Setting | Choices |
|---|---|
| Pause when | The status is an outage (Not working, Down), also degraded (Testing, Updating), or anything not live (maintenance too) |
| While paused | Show the product with its status and no add to cart, or hide it from the store |
| License checks | The License API answers paused, so your software stops too (on by default) |
| On recovery | Add the downtime back to active time-limited keys (on by default) |
| Buyers | Email key holders when sales pause and when they resume (on by default) |
A paused product shows “Paused” on its options and the open incident’s title as its note. Checkout refuses a paused product even from an old cart or a direct link, and the pause ends by itself when the status recovers.
From the API
GET /v1/store/products/{productId}/status answers with the product’s one status: the badge, the label (when a
component drives it), where it came from (component or product), the note and its source (incident or
seller), since when, and the pause window when auto-pause stopped sales. See Products in
the API reference.
The badge keeps its original API values, so integrations do not break: undetected (shown as Working), updated,
testing, updating, detected (shown as Not working) and down.
